The training of students in medical psychology at the University began in 1973 at the Department of Social and Educational Psychology. In 1992, the Department of Psychodiagnostics and Medical Psychology was established to strengthen and further develop students’ education in medical psychology. In 2008, the Department was renamed the Department of Psychodiagnostics and Clinical Psychology.

The Department’s academic staff teach courses in clinical psychology and psychodiagnostics. The Department provides professional training at the bachelor’s and master’s levels in Specialty C4 “Psychology” and teaches psychology courses to students enrolled in other degree programs.

In 2018, the Department staff developed the research-oriented master’s program “Clinical Psychology with Fundamentals of Psychotherapy,” which was offered at the Faculty of Psychology from 2019 to 2026. In 2025, two new educational programs were introduced: “Clinical Psychology” in a full-time format and “Clinical Psychology” in a part-time format.

• Clinical psychology and pathopsychology
• Psychotherapy and psychological counseling
• Mental health and well-being under conditions of prolonged stress
• Perinatal psychology
• Psychology of sexuality and gender diversity

The Department provides training for PhD students and doctoral researchers in Specialty C4 “Psychology.”

The Department maintains academic and research partnerships with institutions in Ukraine and other countries, including the G.S.
